How to Care for and Maintain a 3D Printer.

1. Clean the build plate

To prevent print warping during 3D printing, glue is usually used. However, glue can attract foreign particles and molten metals which could cause problems with prints due to the irregular surface. Make it a habit to clean the plate after every print. This can be done by gently wiping the plate with a damp cloth.

2. Select the right filament to use for your project

Printing problems in 3D can be caused by filament placement. You should therefore choose the right filament and take care of it. Unwind the spool before loading the material to inspect for knots or kinks that could lead to jamming. To ensure smooth printing, it is best to use the recommended filament by your printer manufacturer.

3. Keep the X- and Y-axes lubricated

During printing, the axis moves in continuous motions. The axis moves along the printer head. As dust accumulates on the rods, the lubrication becomes less effective. This makes the axis more stiff and reduces performance. Make sure to clean the rods of dust and oil the lubricant. This will ensure smooth motion throughout. Before you use the printer, you can manually move the rods to ensure that the lubrication has been checked. To ensure it lasts, grease or solid lubricant should be used on the Z axis.

4. Make sure the firmware is always up-to-date
